In an interview, the 55-year-old said that initially, her mother did not like the idea of her son pursuing boxing.
He said, “I wanted to tell you this story after I started training in boxing. My mother didn’t sign me over yet. I’m in legal but I came back. My mother never sign. I said mom, I just met these guys, this white guy. I’ll stay to him and be the champ of the world and then be the youngest champ and my mother started looking at me. I said mom, I would I knocked out 10 guys. I’m the junior Olympic champion of this whole country.”
But, finally, Tyson did what he was made for and become one of the biggest names not only in boxing but across all sports.

Albeit, it was shocking when ‘Iron’ Mike admitted that his mother’s demise was the best event of his life. Then he reflected on the reasons that convinced him to say so.
According to Tyson, his mother’s demise taught him how to stand for himself. It made him tougher and exposed him to the harsh realities of life at a very young age. His mother’s name was Lorna Tyson. She died due to cancer in 1982. Her death had a profound impact on Tyson’s life. He completely devoted himself to the sport under the wings of renowned trainer Cus D’ Amato.
