The podcast’s latest episode reached viewers last week. Mike Tyson and DJ Whoo Kid’s guest reportedly played a critical role in one of modern America’s cultural landscapes. ‘Iron’ Mike had an interesting nugget of information to share with everyone.
Steve Rifkind founded Loud Records in 1991 and SRC Records in 2002. He has collaborated with famous musicians such as Wu-Tang Clan and Akon, among many others, throughout his career. Rifkind also ventured into advertising campaigns for well-known brands such as T-Mobile, Adidas, and Levi’s Jeans. Over 25 years in the industry, Rifkind has been instrumental in bringing some of hip-hop’s most prominent artists to the forefront, as stated by hip-hop magazine XXL.
The trio soon started talking about the record label honcho’s journey through music. As it neared the half-hour mark, the discussion moored at one of hip-hop music’s biggest icons, Tupac Shakur.
So DJ Whoo Kid asked Tyson, “What relations have you had with Pac? Was it like personal too?”
And Mike Tyson said, “I’ll tell you we have time, so I’ll tell you how this happened.”
So ‘The Baddest Man on the Planet’ described how a few individuals, who might have invested in a product and were looking to showcase it, appeared at Magic Johnson’s Summer Fest event at the Palladium on Sunset. Mike is uncertain if the individuals merely invested in a product or advertised it through a commercial. But the lot was upset over not receiving any appreciation. He continued, “…the little one of the Pac’s friends came up, and he was a little guy you can see the way he was dressed they weren’t gonna let him in. I said, let this little guy in; you know how it was when we were kids and stuff…mean, these guys were crying about some stuff, they were crying about the uh Magic and do something with the parts of his team….”

Then he added how he also turned inconsolable, thinking that his wife or girlfriend had abandoned him, “…because I think my girlfriend or my wife somebody left me. I know somebody left me when we were all mad….”
Later he described how when supposedly the security or the administrative staff prevented the people he knew from entering the premises, he also started crying. But eventually, they were granted entry.
