Boxing legend Mike Tyson was not a fan of Hulu’s biopic on his life. The series featured award-winning actor Trevante Rhodes playing the role of the former champion himself. However, according to Iron Mike, this series was a false portrayal of his life.

Initially, Tyson was skeptical before the series was released and claimed that it was made without his consent. Despite that, the show premiered on Hulu and received a mixed reception from fans and critics. Following this Iron Mike doubled down on his criticism of the show even after watching it.

Tyson unhappy about potrayal of his household in Hulu Biopic

In an appearance on Angie Martinez’s podcast, Tyson stated that the show was inaccurate and made his childhood home look good although that was not the case.

They did a documentary on me and Hulu and when I was a little kid they made me look so good. My house was so clean and wow oh man I said this is so full of sh*t” he said.

Moreover, he added that his household was nothing like what was portrayed, and his household belonged to a rough working class neighbourhood . ”

“It’s all stupid though that was never a middle-class a low-class. We didn’t pay rent, it was just a way my brother had to f*ck somebody before he won’t kick us out. it’s just that’s the way.” he added

According to Tyson, the directors of the show portrayed his family to be better off than it actually was. Moreover, this was not something Iron Mike would let off the hook as he called out the show makers for misrepresenting his childhood.

Mike Tyson accused Hulu of not paying him for his life story

Back in August, when the series was set to release, Tyson went on a tirade against Hulu calling them out on multiple occasions. He accused the streaming service of not paying him his share of the series. Moreover, he even took to Instagram and called Hulu a ‘slave master’ of the modern era. “Hulu is the streaming version of the slave master. They stole my story and didn’t pay me.” he wrote in the caption.

However, the showrunners defended themselves by stating that they were under no obligation to pay Tyson. They also claimed that they used sources close to Tyson to get a better understanding of Tyson’s journey to becoming an all-time great.
