There have been growing concerns about how Mike Tyson will fare since he announced his fight with Jake Paul. With only weeks separating the ultimate showdown, he has come clean on his health and fitness levels. However, the update might evoke further worry from some fans.

‘Iron Mike,’ who has been hitting the gym and changing his dietary habits for his first fight in almost four years, spilled beans on his current physical state as he appeared in the New York leg of the scheduled press conferences. When the host, Ariel Helwani, asked about the boxing community’s concerns about his age and associated risks, the American boxer was rather nonchalant. He said, “Well, I’m beautiful. That’s all I can say.”

But the Canadian journalist pressed again and asked, “But can you give us a little more insight? How things are inside?” In response, the 57-year-old admitted that he was feeling sore. He declared, “I’m doing great, but my body is sh*t right now. I’m really sore. I’m really sore, yeah.”

It’s not sure whether Mike Tyson’s hard training was the reason behind this soreness or if it was just his age playing catch-up with him. Interestingly, the Brooklyn native has turned to eating raw meat to prepare for the upcoming fight. The videos of him landing punches on punching bags with ominous sounds erupting from them also indicate his seriousness, peak fitness levels, and prime health conditions.

Notably, he last fought a professional fight back in 2005 against Kevin McBride, and an exhibition bout followed in 2020. But the former heavyweight boxer is confident of his thunderous knockout power and boxing acumen to bag a win. He carried the same attitude in the press conference when he specified his intention to ensure ‘The Problem Child’ would have to fight as if his life depended on it. Will these words come true? Can Tyson push Paul to the limit and do a number on him? Lennox Lewis certainly believes so.

Lennox Lewis picks Mike Tyson to hurt Jake Paul

Lewis expressed his worry about the American influencer when he sat with The Guardian. He believed Tyson knew how to throw punches, and each one of them would leave a stingy sensation on Paul’s skin. He continued, “If Jake Paul gets hit by one of those punches, he’s going to feel it.”

In addition, the British boxer pointed out the gap between the defensive skills of the two. Lastly, he heaped praise on his rival, Tyson, who has already achieved a shredded physique. It remains to be seen whether Tyson’s body can take the pressure of a professional fight at 57.
