It’s not an open secret but Muhammad Ali loved music. Widely regarded as the greatest boxer of all time, Ali was fond of listening to American hip-hop. It’s another fact that during his heydays hip-hop music also known as rap was not that big. In the 1970s, when Ali was proving his greatness in the ring then underground artists were trying to foothold in American society. Though it’s not related, Ali’s influence as a cultural icon and hip-hop as a cultural vision and voice grew together. Many black artists took inspiration from the man and went on to represent their voices through astonishing music. Later when he retired from the sport, he got enough time to explore music and developed his interest.
His grandchild Nico Ali Walsh, who has started following Ali’s footsteps by starting his journey as a professional boxer revealed the unique taste of Ali in American hip-hop. According to him, the immortal figure of boxing used to go wild in Beyonce’s songs. From childhood, Queen Bey earned her spot and later she produced the most iconic albums of all time.

In a brief interview with Jazz Johnson about the journey so far, Walsh revealed how his mother used to tell him about Ali’s fandom for Beyonce. Back then it was the television era so whenever Ali used to come across Beyonce’s songs, it had a crazy effect on him.

What did Walsh say about the reaction of Muhammad Ali?
In an interview with ‘Seconds Out’, Walsh said, “Anytime we would put Beyonce on the tv, my grandfather would just about drool. He loved Beyonce.”
