Hollywood A-lister, Sylvester Stallone, has been a huge part of boxing culture evening though he is not a professional boxer. He made a name in the boxing world after his masterpiece, the Rocky franchise featured 5 films in the highest-grossing boxing movies of all time with Rocky IV taking the top spot.

However, Stallone found out what it was like to step in the ring with a former champion, the hard way. Back in 2017, the Rocky superstar revealed a story about the time when he faced, Joe Frazier, the first man to beat Muhammad Ali.
Sylvester Stallone details an infamous story
In an Instagram post, Stallone stated that he wanted to get the former champ to play the role of Clubber Lang for Rocky 3 and thought it would be a good idea to spar with him to make the fight seem real.

However, this did not turn out well for ‘Rocky’ as he claimed, Frazier planted him with a left hook and an overhand right which badly injured him. “Once in the ring, I figured I just move around and avoid his punches, and that idea work well for about two seconds .. Simply because the Next thing I knew there was a Thunderous left hook planted extremely deep in my body, And an overhand right that resembled a falling piano landing just above my left eye .. The world was now spinning in several directions at the same time,” Stallone concluded describing the incident.
Moreover, in the photo, Stallone had a gash over his head, which apparently needed six stitches to get fixed. This experience certainly taught the Hollywood actor to think twice about stepping into the ring with a professional fighter. The Role eventually went to Mr T. which turned out to be a good thing for Stallone.
Joe Frazier vs Muhammad Ali: A storied rivalry in boxing

After Ali was stripped of his title due to refusing to enlist in the Vietnam war, Frazier rose to the top of the boxing world by becoming the heavyweight champion. However, Ali would return to the ring after his suspension and face Frazier for the title. Smokin Joe would go on to win the fight becoming the first person to beat Ali in a match. The 15-round classic would get the title of the “Fight Of The Century.”
The pair faced off two more times with Ali getting the victory in both matches. To this day many people cite this as the greatest rivalry in boxing’s history.
