The former champion Yordenis Ugas reigned supreme in the welterweight division until April 2022. During this period he proudly held the WBA welterweight title. Moreover, he is well known for being the last opponent of the former eight-division champion and Filipino boxing legend Manny Pacquiao. Interestingly, he managed to defend his title from Pacquiao showcasing his skills. There were even talks about two going for a rematch, however, that didn’t come to fruition. Ultimately Errol Spence Jr. ended up snatching his title off of him last year.
Sadly, earlier this year, two robbers broke into his house and stole his belts. As of now, Ugas is preparing to go toe-to-toe against Mario Barrios on the Canelo vs. Charlo SHOWTIME PPV undercard. The fight that is scheduled for September 30th in T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas will certainly hold a lot of importance for both fighters. As the day of the bout draws closer, an old video of Ugas’ sparring session with Brian Castano resurfaced on social media.

Another fan corrected and stated that he wouldn’t call it getting knocked off of the ring. Moreover, he clarified that the boxer was only trying to “sit/rest on the ropes”. He stated that it was the ropes that were “too loose.”
I wouldn’t say “he got knocked out of the ring,” he tried to sit/rest on the ropes and the ropes are too loose.

Backing up and the ropes in a gym and not as tight as a better one in a real event. Lose ropes = more space to move and open up causing anyone to fall if they accidentally back into it at a certain angle. He wasn’t hurt tho

One fan pointed out that “Ugas never looks good in the clips people post of him sparring.” Though he did acknowledge that there must be “100s of hours of him styling on fighters” which he “doesn’t post but still.”
