Ahead of his fight with Dillian Whyte, Paris Fury, wife of Tyson Fury announced ‘The Gypsy King’ would be interested in fighting Anthony Joshua. To recall her statements, while she hoped her husband would permanently retire with the fight against Whyte, she suspected ‘The Gypsy King’ would not be able to “resist” a match against ‘AJ’.

However, Fury was more interested in Oleksandr Usyk. Likewise, after the Ukrainian boxer defeated ‘AJ,’ the WBC title holder announced his comeback and pursued Usyk. While Usyk and Fury have now finally signed a deal, Eddie Hearn recently detailed why a fight between Fury and Joshua did not happen in the sport.

Eddie Hearn holds Tyson Fury’s demands and the broadcast situation accountable

According to Eddie Hearn, there are two reasons Anthony Joshua vs. Tyson Fury never happened. Besides the demands made by Fury, there was a “broadcast situation” that prevented the fight from happening. “Fury is an enigma, but he’s also mad. He’s quite up and down, he’s going to do what he wants to do,” said Hearn on Stick to Football. In addition, the chairman of Matchroom mentioned while Joshua was with DAZN, Fury was with BT Sport.

Secondly, you’ve got the broadcast situation. AJ’s with DAZN and Fury’s with BT and before AJ was with Sky. So, everybody wants it exclusively on their channel,” the 44-year-old added. In this context, Hearn addressed the issue they have faced with the purse split. “Fury comes in and he says, ‘I want 50/50’ when he wasn’t the champion. He wants 60/40 when he is the champion,” Hearn said. However, he also declared that “when the money’s there and two guys [still] want the fight, nine times out of ten, it will happen.” Although Hearn, who teased fans about Joshua’s next fight, is hopeful about Fury vs. ‘AJ,’ ‘The Gypsy King’ recently announced he was not interested in Joshua anymore.

Tyson Fury doesn’t “look forward to fighting” Anthony Joshua

In a recent statement, Tyson Fury declared that since Joshua’s already been knocked out and defeated thrice, he was not interested in ‘AJ’. In his opinion, “the bubble has been burst” and likewise it was no longer of his interest “to beat him“. “I don’t even look forward to fighting him, it’s not a fight anymore,” Fury said. “He’s already been beat, he’s been spanked by Usyk twice and knocked out by a fat man [Andy Ruiz Jr.] so it’s not of my interest to beat him,” he added.
