The Gervonta Davis vs Ryan Garcia fight is gradually picking up pace in the hype train. So much so that almost anyone who has anything to do with boxing gets bombarded with the usual question about the bout’s winner; it was the turn of Miguel Leon Tyson, former Heavyweight champion Mike Tyson‘s son. The fight, scheduled for April 22 at Nevada’s T Mobile Arena, draws widespread attention. Though Davis and Garcia are still young and have many more years of boxing left, this fight is touted as probably the most important one of their careers.

Both the fighters boast records sans a single defeat. Over the years, both ‘Tank’ Davis and ‘KingRy’ have built a reputation as stoppage experts. Hence, fans and pundits are waiting with bated breath for an explosive fight night.

Across the board, Davis seems to enjoy an edge as the favorite to win. But still, it doesn’t harm to continue to seek individual opinions around the fight. Israeli-American sports reporter Eli Seckbach met Miguel Tyson yesterday and discussed various personalities and upcoming fights. So after a brief discussion about Canelo Alvarez, Seckbach asked junior Tyson, “Tank or Ryan?

The latter immediately exclaimed, “Oh man! That’s a big one.” Next, his friend mentioned what most thought Tank would be the winner. In the meantime, Seckbach introduced the duo to James Earle, who seems to have sparred with Davis and Garcia. According to BoxRec, he has participated in and won all ten professional bouts, of which nine were knock-out victories.

Seckbach said, “So he’s the perfect guy to ask.” And the pro-boxer replied, “I think it’s a fifty-fifty. I think whoever gets caught first, to be honest, they both got power. Can’t sleep on running power; people sleep on it. But eight-ounce gloves in that hook, and he’s fast feet.” Miguel Tyson could be heard agreeing with the reasoning.

Similar thoughts from another corner

Last month, one of Light Welterweight prospects, Elijah Flores, voiced similar views after going through a sparring session with Gervonta Davis. “I’m going to lean on Tank with that just because of the power…I don’t think Ryan is as slick or has better footwork than me. If he doesn’t have that, especially with the bad habits he has going back with the chin up, you’re going to get clipped. To Tank’s punches, you got to be crazy. But if Ryan can box with those long arms, you never know. Just because of the power and the eight-ounce gloves, I don’t see it, really…” He told FightHype.

The discussion moved on to David Benavidez versus Caleb Plant, and Miguel Tyson confessed to not having many insights into the fight. The twenty-two-year-old son of Mike Tyson and Sol Xochitl grabbed headlines as a video of him practicing mitt-work with his famous father appeared on Instagram. According to a few portals, he seems to be interested in music.
