When the news first came out, it left Ryan Garcia devastated. His mother, Lisa Garcia, had recently been diagnosed with breast cancer, but she is a warrior and you could guess from whom the Victorville native got his fighting spirit. After a couple of months of internal turmoil for him, he has finally updated the fans with heartwarming news: his mother’s surgery was a success!

“If my mom dies I’m going with her,” Garcia, 26, had declared when he first learned about his mother’s condition. His stress and worries were open to the public. But ‘KingRy’ can breathe easy now and gave his fans an update on his mother’s health.

Garcia, at 24-1, turned to his Instagram handle and posted an image and a clip of him leaving with Lisa Garcia from the hospital. You could also spot his son and the Garcia family smiling and sharing a beautiful moment as they interacted with the reporters. The super lightweight boxer’s caption read, “Surgery was a success today for my mom.”

Garcia continued, “For those who don’t know, my [mom] has breast cancer but that don’t let us get down we have our faith in Jesus and in her strength to get better.” The Victorville native added, “First steps of being cancer free ✝️✝️✝️ praise the LORD.”

In another post, Garcia posted a still of the Garcia family, including his brother Sean Garcia, all waiting in the hospital for the surgery to be over. The wholesome caption read, “Home is where the heart is ❤️✝️🙏.”

The fans saw the update, and they flooded the comment section, all sending their wishes and congratulations for a successful surgery. Mike Tyson‘s daughter, Milan Tyson, also liked the post.

Holly Sonders, the former NBC and FOX sports broadcaster and Oscar De La Hoya‘s girlfriend, who has spent some time with the Garcia family because of the association between Garcia and Oscar De La Hoya, expressed her joy about the update. She wrote, “So happy it went well and she’s feeling good.”

Adam Waheed, who has over 9 million followers and is a known content writer, lauded Lisa Garcia for her strength and sent his love. His comment read, “❤️💪🏽.”

The post also struck a chord with the American actor and TV host, Mario Lopez, who is a combat sports fan, regularly attends live events, and spars with the stars. He reacted, “❤️❤️❤️.”

Elie Seckbach, the boxing reporter, praised Garcia’s mother for her struggles and added, “👏👏👏👏.”
