What was it all about? Was it the money? The pursuit of boxing glory? Or perhaps the urge to right past wrongs? For many, it remains a confounding question: Why did 58-year-old Mike Tyson step into the ring against a YouTuber who had only been boxing for five years? It may take years before we fully understand the story behind this unprecedented matchup. It’s been three months since ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson and Jake Paul faced off at AT&T Stadium, a bout that ultimately ended in Paul’s victory.

It remains unclear if this was the only factor that drove him to proceed with the much-debated showdown. However, fans may find some solace in Tyson’s recent revelations. Due to declining health, the fight – originally scheduled for July – was postponed to November. Yet concerns lingered. Tyson’s last professional fight had taken place nearly nineteen years ago. For some, his long absence from the ring stood out like a bolt from the blue. In an exclusive interview with Sean Hannity for Fox Nation’s new program ‘Sean’, the former heavyweight champion opened up about previously unknown details surrounding one of the most dramatic events in recent boxing history.

Hannity expressed disbelief over how a 58-year-old former world champion could step back into the ring. The Fox News host recalled Mike Tyson admitting that he ‘didn’t remember the fight.’ Tyson acknowledged. He could barely recall the event. The only moments that stuck in his mind were the first round and the unusual sight of Jake Paul bowing to him in the ring. Tyson then revealed that leading up to the fight, he had been battling a three-inch bleeding ulcer, which required ten blood transfusions. When Hannity asked if this had weakened him going into the fight, Tyson replied, “I haven’t thought about that.”

He had to wrestle with a few other pertinent matters. “I was worried about getting sued, you know, because I was like, ‘God, they’re going to sue me if I don’t do this fight’,” said Mike Tyson. The conversation then shifted to the infamous Netflix crash during the fight broadcast and the slap that occurred during the final weigh-in.

According to a report in ‘USA Today,’ both Tyson and Paul walked away with hefty payouts. Tyson reportedly earned around $20 million, while ‘The Problem Child’ pocketed a staggering $40 million. It seems even Tyson’s family is less than enthusiastic about his late-life return to the ring. Perhaps it’s high time he enjoyed his retirement instead of risking his health.
