Did Mayweather and McGregor pave the way for Jake Paul, or is this a step too far?

If anyone needed evidence of whether Mike Tyson was back for good to face Jake Paul, then the presser in New York might serve the purpose. An excited ‘Iron’ Mike pushed Jake Paul as they came face-to-face ahead of their rescheduled fight on November 15. The duo were earlier set for a duel on July 20. However, concerns over Tyson’s health following a mid-air medical emergency resulted in a postponement.

It’s a different matter, though. With a different matchup in Florida, Jake Paul and co-headliner Amanda Serrano continued with a fight on July 20. Subsequent reports later suggested that Mike Tyson had returned to training in a phased manner. Fans saw the boxing great at the Terence CrawfordIsrail Madrimov fight in Los Angeles. Recently, Tyson joined Logan Paul and Mike Majlak on the sets of the ‘Impaulsive’. Alongside other developments, he talked about the Jake Paul fight in November. The former world champion took a moment to reflect on a page from history, the catalyst, which in many ways helped orchestrate the square off with ‘The Problem Child’.

As the show neared the end, Logan Paul recalled how Mike Tyson’s presence had influenced and impacted boxing for so many years. He has been with his younger brother from the time he forayed into the sport. The pro-wrestling champion, however, insisted he had never come across a hype of such magnitude.

People are branding this as potentially one of the biggest fights ever,” said Logan Paul. The very thought made him ponder the sheer number of fans and followers who would watch the fight without shelling out an additional dime. “Listen, this is what this is all about, all these other fighters and all these others. This is all about jealousy; they wish they could do it, but they can’t,” added Mike Tyson. He dismissed critics who seemed to question their achievements. Perhaps even some of the world champions could be envious because they lack the same level of recognition, he opined.

Logan Paul couldn’t have agreed more. Emphasizing that there is no prior example to the Mike Tyson-Jake Paul fight, he praised the duo for being part of the first live sporting event on a major global streaming platform like Netflix. ‘Iron’ Mike agreed, but he added, “‘You got to thank, you got to count McGregor and Floyd started it. You know McGregor and Floyd.” Logan Paul also concurred: “They did start the crossover.

‘The Problem Child’s elder brother acknowledged the Floyd Mayweather Jr.Conor McGregor showdown was impressive. Nonetheless, the November 15 show may potentially come out a bit more impactful. Unlike the 2017 fight, which was basically a pay-per-view blockbuster, the Tyson-Paul fight could cater to a much larger audience. It sounded like a mind-blowing prospect.
