Yet another Mike Tyson sparring footage just surfaced on the internet. However, it failed to inspire confidence among fans about his chances against Jake Paul. The legend of the past and social media star of today will get down to business on November 15 at the Jerry World in Arlington, Texas, despite growing concerns from fans.
The fight was initially scheduled for July 20, but a medical emergency Tyson suffered on a cross-country flight forced organizers to reschedule it for November. That, coupled with the 31-year age difference between the two parties, has only added to the worries. Amid all this, Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions shared a video from Tyson’s camp.
As part of MVP Uncut, the fight promo video captured Tyson training intensely in his gym. He moved from pounding the heavy bag with raw power to stepping into the ring with his sparring partner. With each thundering punch Tyson landed, his trainer, Rafael Cordeiro, couldn’t hold back his admiration for the former heavyweight champion’s skills.

When Mike Tyson closed the sparring session with a sharp left hook, Cordeiro shouted from outside the ring, “We’re done. The job is over.” Reflecting on the upcoming bout, Cordeiro later remarked, “Mike will go there to kill or die. He wants to hunt this kid like crazy, and… we just need one touch. If Mike [connects], it’s over.”
This was similar to something Cordeiro said before the July 20 fight was rescheduled. “Mike is going to step in the ring as the old Mike Tyson… First-round KO,” he said during a training session. If that wasn’t ominous enough, Cordeiro doubled down on that in MVP Uncut. “He’s raising his technique in training. Better and better every single day. His defense, power, speed, endurance. Today, he put everything together to put on a great show on November 15.”
Incidentally, this in-depth look into Mike Tyson’s camp came just a day after former MMA fighter Chael Sonnen voiced his thoughts on the fight’s promotion. On his YouTube channel, Sonnen said, “This fight is turning into something. I’m only offering to you what could’ve made it better. A really important ingredient… we either hear from training partners or we don’t. The problem with the ‘don’t’ [is that] whenever you’re doing an event like this, there’s a number of reasons why promoters go out of business.”

What’s your perspective on:
Can a 58-year-old Tyson really stand up to Jake Paul, or is this fight a mistake?
Have an interesting take?
One of those reasons is hyping up the bout and making sure viewers know that the fighters are doing everything they can to make it an exciting show for the audience. The downside of the silence from Tyson’s side, though? “If Tyson goes out there and he gets mauled by Jake, you’re going to have a whole bunch of fans that are very p-ssed off the next time you try to pull a caper.”
“If you show us that he’s training, and, [if] he doesn’t look good, you’re much better off. We will predict that he’s gonna get stomped. We’ll cross our fingers and hope he doesn’t. We will tune in either way. But we won’t leave angry,” Sonnen added. At least that way, people would know what to expect going into the fight. But now that fans have gotten a closer look into Tyson’s training, they aren’t too confident about the 58-year-old’s chances. Despite what Rafael Cordeiro said and his faith in his boxer.
Fans question Mike Tyson’s chin
The Mac Life, too, shared a clip of the sparring session on Instagram, captioned, “Mike Tyson gets in sparring ahead of his boxing bout with Jake Paul.” But that seems to have only added to the air of uncertainty around Mike Tyson’s readiness for the fight.
The unique bout has attracted criticism since the day it was announced, but with each passing day, the criticism is getting harsher and harsher. One user gave props to Tyson for his physique at 58 but questioned whether he would be able to withstand a punch to the face. “He looks incredible for his age. OK. But that’s for his age, and we don’t know what a 60-year-old Mike Tyson’s chin gonna look like,” the user explained.
Unfortunately, everyone will have to wait till fight night to find that out. Meanwhile, this user grew even more concerned for Tyson after seeing the clip. “Please call this off, smh,” the user commented. However, it might just be too late for that to happen. With just a week to go, both Jake Paul and Mike Tyson are locked in, whether or not viewed think they’re ready.

Another user issued a warning for Tyson: “Awww hell naw! Tyson is done for.” Well, maybe Chael Sonnen’s claim about setting expectations was a good thing because this user sure feels that ‘Iron Mike’ may not come out victorious. But imagine their surprise if the 58-year-old does happen to claw out a W! Notably, Tyson will have the advantage because of the rules of the fight, which will have eight 2-minute rounds and 14-ounce gloves.

Someone else took digs at Jake Paul for deciding to fight Tyson: “It’s kinda embarrassing that a 27-year-old thinks fighting a 60-year-old will help his ‘boxing legacy.’” Boxing legacy might not be the thing Paul is after with the fight. Another user predicted what may happen on fight night. “Mike Tyson will get knocked out and we will all be devastated,” the user wrote.
Such a prospect is even more worrisome, considering Tyson is 58 and damage to his brain can have severe repercussions immediately after. Despite all assurances, fans still view the Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson fight as a questionable idea. Reports suggest ticket sales are lagging, likely mirroring the widespread skepticism around the event. What are your thoughts on Tyson’s recent sparring session?
