The Joe Rogan Experience is a platform for ‘performative’ free speech and a panel for the organized display of intellect that offers hospitality to popular and influential faces in the USA. On his podcast, Rogan contemplates a variety of things, starting from sports to the personal lives of the cherished guests he hosts on-air.

In a recent episode, Rogan interviewed former world champion, The Kid Dynamite, Mike Tyson. Enjoying his privileged moments with the fighter, he brought up certain events that in the past not only led Tyson to debates but also, according to Rogan, helped the world champion shape a distinct identity of his own. “Like that added to your mystique,” as Rogan had then said.

Joe Rogan reminded Mike of his fight with Mitch Blood Green at the store of designer Dapper Dan. In addition, he even talked about the time Tyson crashed his car and gave it to the police. “It was just wild, impulsive sh*t, but almost like that’s what people want from the greatest boxer on the planet. You know what I mean?” said Rogan.

A one-line response by Mike Tyson that sums up the story of his life

Before Rogan could catch some air uttering those words as above, Mike Tyson jabbed the host with a one-liner. In his direct response, he explained why he committed the infamous acts.

I was a nobody that wanted to be a somebody so bad. That’s what it was.”, said Tyson.

How much of a change is The Kid Dynamite today?

Having left boxing in the year 2005, Mike had to deal with strong mental health issues. Constantly, he suffered from manic depression and neurobehavioral complications caused by damages received from blows to the head. However, ‘Iron’ fought back, and once again he won against the obstacles of his life.

Following his retirement, he starred and made a cameo in a handful of movies. Rocky Balboa (2007), The Hangover (2009), and Ip Man (2017) are just a few names worthy to be mentioned. In addition, Tyson made investments in a company named Wasana Health which primarily seeks to help people struggling with mental health issues.

Evidently, Tyson has grown a lot from the day he ran into the altercation with Mitch Blood Green. Hopefully, his sincere investments in the present will help him and his fans look beyond his embarrassing records held in the past. What do you think about Mike Tyson then and now?
