Tyson joined Greta Van Susteren on her Newsmax show ‘The Record with Greta Van Susteren’. Given how she and many of her co-workers were rooting for him, the television news anchor seemed curious whether Tyson ever came across anyone not backing him.

With a smile spreading across his face, ‘Iron’ Mike replied that such notions barely bothered him. He was just focused on the task ahead. “Tell me how you’ve been training,” the next question followed. It’s a well-known boxing trivia, how at his peak Mike Tyson used to get up at 3 or 4 a.m. when the rest of the world and his opponents would be sleeping to achieve that psychological edge.
The routine doesn’t seem to have changed even now. “12 o’clock in the morning, doing an hour of cardio, then take a bath, wake up at 1:00, go to the gym, train eight rounds, boxing. Hit the bag. Maybe, then I train my strength and conditioning coach, and then I work again. It’s just an all-day process,” Mike Tyson said.
The response clearly piqued Ms. Susteren’s interest. She wanted to know if he enjoyed following such a tough regimen. At times, it’s fun, Mike Tyson responded. However, there were days when he found it quite challenging.

For the most part, vegan
A hard training without a proper diet is like a car running on empty. The news anchor asked, “Now I want to talk about your diet. You were a vegan, and you’re not a vegan anymore. So what happened? Why did you go back to eating meat? And does that have any impact on your fighting?”

The former heavyweight champion confirmed that he liked eating meat. However, he restricted the intake to the days when he would train. Once done with a fight, he would stop eating meat. The response surprised Ms. Susteren. Why the former champion avoided meat. “I’m a vegan too, so that’s why I’m curious about that. Why don’t you eat meat?” She asked. “I like the way I feel,” came the reply.
