Mike Tyson has been quite open about his admiration for Ryan Garcia. According to Tyson, Garcia is a big star, but he is simply unaware that he is. Although there are speculations and opposing views, Ryan Garcia is indeed one individual who currently signifies one of the many faces of pro boxing. Comprising young and throbbing talents, the lightweight division, at present, is undoubtedly one of the most technical and advanced weight categories in boxing.

In others’ opinion, not entirely a good fit, Ryan Garcia apart, the current boxers who literally threaten and dominate the lightweight are the undisputed lightweight champion, Devin Haney, and the WBA lightweight title holder, Gervonta Davis. Following Davis’ last victory against Rolando Romero, Garcia took to Twitter and openly acknowledged his desire to fight Davis. Although it has yet not been official, a bout between the two is highly possible since both Garcia, from his end, and Mayweather, who promotes Davis, shared interests in that fight.

Mike Tyson contemplates Ryan Garcia vs. Devin Haney
Irrespective of the congealed hype regarding the Davis vs. Garcia fight among fans, Mike Tyson offers ‘The Flash’ a whole different opponent in Devin Haney. According to Tyson, Garcia has a commendable fan following, and, therefore, a fight with the undisputed champion will cause an exceptional clash. Stylistically, both Garcia and Haney are very different fighters. Where Garcia lays emphasis on powerful round punches, such as the hook to the body or face, Haney relies completely on basics, aptly using his 5ft 9′ height (not that Ryan doesn’t) and the subsequent and formidable reach advantage. Anyway, the following is what Tyson thought of the fight: “Those two would just break the records.”

“Garcia has a big fan following. And just because of that, that’s why the fight with Haney will be bigger. All because it’s fan-based,” Tyson concluded by saying.
