During his prime, Mike Tyson was one of the most known personalities in American households. While he was used to being recognized everywhere, he soon found out that it was quite embarrassing for the Youngest Heavyweight champion if somebody didn’t know who he was. Well, this realization happened in ‘Iron’ Mike’s life when he first met the ‘King of Pop’, Michael Jackson. Tyson approached him after the concert where Jackson asked the boxer, “Don’t I know you from somewhere?”
Mike admitted that it crushed him and he held a grudge against the pop star until they started hanging out together. As it turns out, after the recent revelation in the latest episode of Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson, this was quite a usual occurrence with ‘MJ’, as a similar thing happened with the famous singer, Shakira, too.

Michael Jackson’s son, Prince Jackson, recently appeared on Tyson’s podcast, where they touched upon various topics. Also, they discussed subjects such as how he would manage the balance between his immense fame and personal life. So, amid these topics, the co-host of the show, DJ Whoo Kid, narrated one of his experiences with Jackson.
He said, “The wildest thing is- this screen came down and on the screen, it was a Shakira video on, but he didn’t know who Shakira was.” He also remembered the exact conversation that took place at that moment. He recalled, “He was like, ‘Who’s that?’ And I’m like, ‘That’s Shakira!’” Well, Tyson heard this, and he couldn’t believe a word Kid was uttering.
‘Kid Dynamite’ said, “Nah he knows. He has to know everybody.” Well, Tyson has faced this firsthand, so he believed Jackson must have known her but couldn’t recall who she was at that moment. Shakira held great influence all around the world. So much so that recently she was honored with a tribute from MTV for her impact.

There’s no doubt that Michael Jackson had a great cultural impact through his music. Jackson’s influence on the world is quite difficult to match as an artist. The Video Music Awards came up with an award to honor his name and influence. Well, this year, according to Variety, Shakira will be the recipient of this Award.
She’ll also be performing at the ceremony, which will be held at the Prudential Center in Newark New Jersey on September 12. The big name in the industry, Bruce Gillmer, has called Shakira a “true global force“. He also mentioned, “Her massive impact across the musical landscape will be long-lasting as she continues to create and entertain at the highest level.” It was quite evident as she performed in the Super Bowl Half-Time Show three years ago, back in 2020.
