Former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield shared one of the most explosive rivalries in the history of boxing. Meanwhile, Holyfield’s son Evander Holyfield Jr. gave an insight into the advice Tyson gave him.

Holyfield Jr was talking to a reporter from ESNews. In conversation, the reporter asked him about the best advice Tyson gave him when he fought at the amateur level.
In response, Holyfield Jr. said, “Man, the best advice that Tyson gave me that day was just, hey he as long as you keep working. And you don’t quit, then you know when things get tough a lot of people want to quit.”
Moreover, he added that he did not quit during his fight. Holyfield Jr. said, “But at the time, I didn’t quit during that fight. So he was saying that it was the biggest, that was the biggest thing, not quitting.”
It sure is worth noting, that advice from the ‘Baddest Man on the Planet’ is a boon for the growth of an upcoming boxer.
Evander Holyfield’s rivalry with Mike Tyson
Tyson’s rivalry with Holyfield was one of the most talked-about in the sport. The duo famously faced each other twice in their career.
Tyson first faced Holyfield for the WBA heavyweight championship on November 9, 1996. Moreover, the bout took place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Paradise, Nevada. Holyfield displayed his technical prowess during the bout, defeating Tyson by TKO in the 11th round.

The duo was pitted against each other on June 28, 1997, for their highly anticipated rematch. However, the fight became infamous after Tyson bit Holyfield’s ear off in the ring. In fact, the incident caused the bout to be infamously named, ‘The Bite Fight’.
