Did Jake Paul deserve Mike Tyson's slap, or was it just a publicity stunt gone wrong?

“This is a pinch me moment,” Jake Paul wrote after the chaos had subdued. After all, the Problem Child’s marked face is plastered all over the internet after Mike Tyson slapped him during their weigh-in. It brought back memories. A bigger stage, two famed entities, and a slap—something similar happened over two years ago too. And it seems Chris Rock is once again part of another slapgate scenario.

Paul, 27, felt ‘Iron Mike’s power when the latter slapped him square in the face, and the two jumped into the action before their scheduled fight on November 15 at AT&T Stadium. However, the security pulled away the two fighters before any damage could be done and restored the order. Paul, at 10-1, has since turned to his social media handles, mocking the slap, even putting Will Smith’s infamous Chris Rock slap image as his display picture on his Instagram account. That’s not all.

‘Problem Child’ also shared the clip on his social media handles, asking the former world champion in the caption, “@miketyson is this my Chris Rock moment?” Interestingly, Tyson, 58, had appeared in a conversation with actor and boxing fan Rosie Perez, where he disclosed how he ended up accepting a fight with Paul and also answered a specific question coming straight from Chris Rock.

Rosie Perez, 60, asked him, “Chris Rock wanted me to ask you. Are you planning to knock out Jake Paul?” To this, Tyson, at 50-6, responded, “Hey, I’m in a fight. I’m defending myself. He’s going to try to hurt me. So I have to try to hurt him.” The former heavyweight champion has already specified his intention to hurt his competition and bag a win in the fight, and this slap on the Cleveland native is a sign of a declaration of war.

But why did ‘Baddest Man on Planet’ burst into anger and slap Paul? It seems it has something to do with a cheap trick by the YouTuber-turned-prize fighter. Tom Patti, one of Tyson’s longtime friends, has disclosed the secret to the world.

Mike Tyson made Jake Paul pay for his antics

Have an interesting take?

When the two boxers squared off, Jake Paul, in an attempt to intimidate him, crawled up to Mike Tyson before standing up to face him. However, he inadvertently seems to have stepped on Tyson’s foot. Tyson didn’t take this lightly, and it promoted a violent reaction from him. Patti told USA TODAY, “Jake stepped on Mike’s foot. That prompted the reaction. I was there and Mike just told me. My personal opinion (is) Jake shows enough disrespect that he starts crawling up to Mike and then pouncing in front of him… like some sort of lurching animal. Mike put him in his place.”

In the clip too, the fans can see Tyson slapping and pointing to the ground before the security separates the two. It could be a well-thought-out ploy by Paul, who has mastered the art of promoting a fight and helping it get a final push. What’s more? He also revealed he wanted to knock out Tyson for slapping him after the fiasco. It remains to be seen how this fight pans out on Saturday night now.
