Legendary boxer Mike Tyson has explained his side of the infamous Evander Holyfield fight. The ‘Baddest Man on the Planet’ fought Evander Holyfield on two occasions in his career. However, it was the latter that will be etched in history forever. Mike Tyson was disqualified after biting Holyfield’s ear; his actions sent shock waves across the world. It is still one of the most famous incidents in a boxing ring.

Speaking to VLADTV on YouTube, ‘Iron Mike’ explained his side of the events. He said, “I don’t know. I shouldn’t have gotten too mad. I should have just cool down and went through that fight.”

Tyson added, “I was just mad and p***ed off. And I was bleeding, and I thought they would probably stop the fight because of my eye and I just lost it.”

Tyson always maintained that it was a reaction to Holyfield head-butting him throughout the fight. He said, “Well, I just wanted to hurt him more than he was hurting me. Because I was head-butting him too, and I guess, I wasn’t hurting him enough because he was head-butting me back. So I put the biting in the game. I wish I didn’t do that, but I did.”

Due to the untimely and unexpected end to the re-match, there have always been rumors of a trilogy fight. However, it never materialized when both the fighters were active. But now, with Mike Tyson coming back to the ring, it has sparked rumors that we could see the pair meet in the ring again.

Holyfield has repeatedly called out Mike Tyson since the comeback fight, and Tyson has said he is open to fighting more exhibitions. So fans will hope that if there are to be any other Legends Only League fights, it would be between two of the greatest rivals the sport has ever seen.
