Jake Paul is more than just a boxer. He also has an entrepreneurial spirit. Cashing in on his marketability as an internet sensation, he has kickstarted many startups such as Most Valuable Promotions, Betr, and the latest addition to his roster of businesses, “W”. Paul is going gung ho in the promotional work for the men’s hygiene care brand which, after their recent Series A funding round, is valued at $150 million.
Paul is also creatively blending his startup venture with his professional boxing career. In less than two months, Jake Paul will enter the ring against Mike Tyson at the AT&T stadium in Texas on November 15. And now, without him knowing, Mike Tyson has been roped in to promote his recently founded brand.
Before the Dallas Cowboys’ game against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, Tyson visited the stadium where his upcoming fight will take place and faced off with Paul at midfield before kickoff. While photographers captured the moment, Tyson’s serious expression was soon turned into a clever marketing tool for Paul’s brand, W. In one of his recent Instagram stories, Paul shared a picture of himself wearing a shirt with the W logo, standing beside Tyson, who appeared to have a “grin”. The caption read, “As you can see W is mood boosting. Just look at the grin on Mike Tyson’s face.”

Jake Paul’s men’s lifestyle brand was exclusively launched at Walmart last month, releasing a long line of products like body wash, body spray, and deodorants under the name of the brand. Now, the company has a long line of investors like Range Group, 305 Ventures, Uphonest Capital, Quiet Capital, and Palm Tree Crew. The men’s hygiene care brand received early funding from Anti Fund, a VC firm co-founded by Paul. Moreover, tennis stars Naomi Osaka, and fashion celebrity Paris Hilton have also chipped into the project as individual investors.

One-stop shop for solving a common insecurity

Jake Paul using Mike Tyson's name without consent—disrespectful or just smart business?
Have an interesting take?
Jake Paul knows his audience well. It is mainly teenagers or people in their early 20s. The reason behind Paul coming up with the idea for the brand is closely related to a common insecurity many young men face in their day-to-day lives. “Sweating has been a longtime insecurity of mine,” Jake Paul said. Therefore, to solve the issue, Paul kickstarted “W” to make young men feel more confident and secure in social situations by giving them a “much-needed upgrade to their personal care routines” at an affordable price.
“That’s why I started W… to create products for guys that will boost their confidence and smell amazing, but also don’t cost $20,” Paul stated. With the success that Jake Paul has had with other startups like Betr, and Most Valuable Promotions, this one also just might be a rage amongst his loyal audience.
