Jake Paul is set to return to the ring against former middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. on June 28, 2025, at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. However, his last bout against former heavyweight king Mike Tyson continues to spark conversation—and not all of it flattering. This time, it’s a former world champion taking shots, with Tyson catching some strays in the process.

British boxing legend Carl Froch, who retired in 2014 after knocking out George Groves, has since transitioned into being a pundit, often with Jake Paul as one of his favorite targets. In the past, ‘The Cobra’ has even said he would come out of retirement specifically to fight Paul, pledging to donate his entire purse to charity.

Earlier this year, Paul’s business partner, Nakisa Bidarian, responded to Froch’s challenge by demanding the Brit put up $10 million (£7.7 million) to make the fight happen. However, earlier this month, during the Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano trilogy press conference, Paul appeared to walk back on the idea. When a reporter asked him about the potential matchup with the 47-year-old, Paul simply said, “Next question,” dodging the topic altogether.

Fast forward to today, Paul listed his top three boxing matches on X, naming “Taylor Serrano 2, Eubank Jr vs. Benn, and Fury Wilder 3.” That post didn’t go unnoticed by Froch, who seized the opportunity to take a jab at Paul and indirectly at Tyson. “My favourite fight was you beating Mike Tyson, one of the most feared heavyweights of all time. You must be so proud. Go Champ! 👊🏼,” Froch wrote sarcastically.

Bidarian quickly came to Paul’s defense, firing back at Froch: “My favorite is seeing you beg for Jake’s attention and engagement. Hilarious.” While Froch may have insulted Tyson indirectly, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. seems to be out looking to avenge his loss against Paul.

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. vows revenge for Mike Tyson against Jake Paul

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. is ready to step up and defend Mike Tyson’s honor. Speaking from his boxing gym in L.A., Chavez Jr. told TMZ Sports, “I wanna take revenge for Mike Tyson.” After watching Jake Paul defeat Tyson by unanimous decision in their November 2024 bout—the most watched fight ever—Chavez Jr. immediately wanted to fight the YouTuber-turned-boxer.

“When I saw the fight, my first thought was, I wanna fight Jake Paul,” Chavez Jr. said. Now, he’ll get his chance on June 28 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. Despite having a 54-6 record and being a former middleweight world champion, Chavez Jr. isn’t underestimating Paul, who stands at 11-1 as a pro. “He’s big,” Chavez Jr. admitted. “So I wanna prepare to be the best this June 28th.”

That said, it seems Jake Paul is dodging a fight with Carl Froch, possibly due to lower financial incentives or fear of defeat. But the real question is: Can Froch, at 47, still defeat Paul?
