Mike Tyson is regarded as one of the greatest boxers to ever live. He was known for the rage that he brought inside the squared circle, which made him a world champion at the age of 20. His past, however, has a significant impact on his hostile personality. Tyson was raised in a dangerous neighborhood and was exposed to crime at a very young age. The former champion talked about a day when his brother almost shot him.

Mike Tyson described a close call with death in his book, which occurred when he got caught up in a gang fight with the “Puma Boys.” He said, “I realized that some of the Puma Boys had taken cover between the parked cars in the street. I had the M1 rifle, and I turned around quickly to see this big guy with his pistol pointed toward me.”

Tyson apparently spent time in juvenile detention facilities because of his criminal history. But when he developed a passion for boxing and met Cus D’Amato, who had a significant influence on how his life would develop, things began to change. In the future, his older brother Rodney, who had a gun pointed at him, also became a surgeon. Interestingly, Rodney Tyson once rescued the life of his little brother’s buddy.

The 56-year-old once related an incident in which his older brother, who is currently a brain surgeon, assisted in saving the life of his pal. The former champion currently hosts his own podcast named Hotboxin with Mike Tyson. In one such episode of the show, legendary Mexican boxer Canelo Alvarez made an appearance on the program, and “Iron Mike” recounted a story about his brother while in conversation with him.

Tyson remarked that, despite his own inability to read and write, his brother, who rose from the same neighborhood, is a brain surgeon now. He further stated, “A couple of my friends were shot, he went there and sewn them up. He (one of Tyson’s friends) said ‘Mikey that’s your brother?’, my brother saved a couple of my friends’ lives. They’ve been shot or something. He sewn them up. And they were like ‘that’s your brother?’, yes it is my brother.”
