The connection between boxing and rap is undeniable, and new releases are keeping the tradition alive even further. Many times, a rapper has paid homage to the ring, and many tracks have thrown a lyrical punch referencing the legendary Mike Tyson. Public Enemy’s ‘Welcome to the Terrordome’ became synonymous with Tyson’s intimidating entrance, forever linking boxing and hip-hop.

Eminem also wove Tyson’s infamous ear bite into the fabric of his song ‘Legacy’. Then in 2023, a new artist, Maika Million, kept the trend going. She also talked about the mighty skills of Mike Tyson in her music, and the time when he became the youngest heavyweight champion in history. However, now ‘Iron’ Mike has himself promised to enter the music arena and make a mark on this field as well.

An unexpected collaboration might happen as per the latest Mike Tyson’s podcast, Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson. During a recent episode with rapper Rick Ross, the conversation took a surprising turn. Ross, known for his luxurious lifestyle and bravado-laced lyrics, expressed his interest in a new album title: “Zen.” Tyson, ever the supporter, responded with a simple, “That’s bada**.

But the real fireworks came next. Ross, seemingly out of the blue, asked the boxing legend, “You will do song with me?” The question hung in the air, leaving everyone wondering if Iron Mike would step into the booth. Tyson, without missing a beat, replied, “What you need me to do?” His willingness to collaborate caught everyone off guard, including Ross himself. Capitalizing on the momentum, Ross clarified, “I need you to spit a verse.” This request for a guest rap verse solidified the potential for a unique team up.

Tyson’s response? A resounding, “Okay.” With that simple agreement, a possible hip-hop history moment was born. “It’s done. It’s that easy, let’s do it,” declared Ross, sealing the deal. Well, this isn’t too surprising, since Tyson has been involved in music quite a lot lately. Especially with the Mexican pop star, Peso Pluma.
