Mia St. John has been very open about her active advocacy of the importance of mental health for a while now. She has done multiple fundraisers to help those suffering from these issues over the years. Her concern for the issue stems from the personal tragedy she suffered after her son ended up taking his own life while in rehab back in 2014. Moreover, she herself is struggling with these issues and what’s more, she even recently shared how hiking helps her keep her mental health in check.

She previously announced another fundraiser along with the author, professional wrestler, and Playboy model Mayra Dias Gomes. Recently, the said fundraiser took place, and she even received huge support from Cristiane Venancio. Addressing the huge help, St. John shared her gratitude towards the MMA champion.

Mia St. John thanks Cris Cyborg for the immense support

Mia St. John recently took to Twitter to thank MMA fighter Venancio, better known as Cris Cyborg for providing massive support to her fundraiser. She shared that Cyborg had bid on her book “Fighting for My Life” at her fundraiser. She thanked her fellow fighter and shared that, “She also made the largest contribution of funds that night.” Mia further shared that “Those funds keep our programs 4 #homelessness #mentalillness & #addiction alive Ty, Cris”

However, this is not the first time she has worked with the women’s featherweight champion. Cyborg previously attended Mia St. John’s annual fundraiser back in 2017. Furthermore, at the time Sugar Ray Leonard had hosted the event.

Moreover, the 5× world champion even trained with Cyborg prior to her bout against Holly Holm at UFC 219. So the duo is definitely close with one another and appreciates and helps each other in their endeavors.

Chris Cyborg had this to say about the event

The MMA fighter also took to Twitter, to share her experience at the event. She shared that she had an “amazing opportunity to attend” the charity fundraiser by the former world champion. She also shared her appreciation for Mayra Dias Gomes for sharing her “life saving testimony on sober living.”

Cyborg wrote that she loves “witnessing strong passionate women support one another and help create community charge!” She also claimed that she was “blessed to be able to make a donation in honor of @MikeKoganMMA”.

She shared that the money raised will be “used to fund programs providing services for mental health, suicide awareness, and homelessness.”

St. John replied to the post and invited her and Mike Kogan to visit her “mental health facility in Palm Springs”. She revealed that the “beautiful shelter” is for mentally ill or drug-addicted homeless people.
