Ryan Garcia finds himself in a fight outside the ring – a fight for focus. His upcoming clash with Devin Haney for the WBC super-lightweight title is heating up, but Garcia’s social media antics are raising eyebrows. Fans were first rattled by an interview confession where Garcia admitted to marijuana use. Then came a barrage of bizarre social media posts, culminating in a video claiming his own death.
These erratic actions have sparked concern about Garcia’s mental well-being. Garcia, attempting to silence the noise, has pledged to stay off non-boxing topics online. It’s still odd for a lot of people that his trainer Derrick James and promoter Oscar De La Hoya never considered pulling their boxer out of the contest against Devin Haney. However, Mayweather Promotions’ CEO Leonard Ellerbe believes he’d take a different route than De La Hoya and James.

Ryan Garcia has been trying to show how serious he is for his upcoming fight against Haney, and how he’s preparing hard for the fight. Moreover, it became evident after a leaked sparring video depicted Garcia in a ferocious exchange, sweat flying, muscles straining. The intensity was undeniable.
And then, as the round ended, Garcia turned to the camera and confirmed that he’s ready for Haney. Despite this, Leonard Ellerbe wouldn’t have let him participate in the fight. He stated, “If he was my fighter, yeah I would have a different kind of approach.” What approach? Ellerbe answered, “I would pull him.” Then the reporter asked him what if all of this was a way to build up the event.
Ellerbe doesn’t believe that, as he said, “Yeah because everything that you’re reading is kind of what it is. It’s, you know, it’s kind of what it is.” However, no matter what anybody says, Garcia believes he’s never been more ready for a fight and claims to be on the top of his game.
