Alvarez’s promoter Eddie Hearn also thinks that the fight will be huge in terms of revenue and viewership. Moreover, he also compared the bout with another potential super fight between Errol Spence Jr. and Terrance Crawford in an interview with IFL TV saying, “If you talk about the revenue generated on a fight, it’s like, God knows, it’s like 10 times as big, but Spence-Crawford is a brilliant fight and I think it’s right up there with Canelo-GGG, of course”

However, Mayweather promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe was skeptical about this statement and took to Twitter to address it, also making a huge claim about Alvarez’s previous fight against Dmitry Bivol.
Ellerbe makes a startling claim
Ellerbe called Hearn out in the tweet claiming that the British promoter is trying to create hype around the fight as he wrote, “Lol, this is just a hot take to get some riled up, and honestly he’s doing his job. He knows nobody cares abt this fight,”. Moreover, he also made a claim regarding the number of PPV buys from Alvarzez’s previous fight writing,” Nelo just lost and he did 120k buys combined on cable/satellite in the US, I repeat 120k combined w a 9m live gate and that’s a fact. This is jus promotion“.

It is reported by various outlets that the estimated PPV buys for the fight were just over 500,000, which is certainly a lot less than Alvarez’s fight against Caleb Plant, which had 800,000 buys. And although disappointing, it is nowhere near 120.000 as stated by Ellerbe.
Moreover, his previous fights with Golovkin have both crossed one million buys and Alvarez will certainly hope to match that number in their third fight.
