The recent “Ambush” of Jake Paul by the former five-division world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. has attracted eyes worldwide. The whole incident came as a shock to the boxing world due to its spontaneity. As Paul was leaving the FTX arena after the Miami Heat game, the YouTuber turned boxer was jumped by Mayweather Jr. along with “50 dudes,” as stated by Jake Paul. The Ohio-raised Internet sensation did the wise thing and left the premise before the altercation escalated. The whole episode has started a lot of rumors about a boxing matchup between the two.
Leonard Ellerbe, CEO of Mayweather Promotions, opened up about this incident and discussed his thoughts on the YouTuber turned boxer.
Ellerbe breaks silence on the ‘ambush’

The relationship between Floyd Mayweather and Leonard Ellerbe goes way back. Before becoming the CEO of Mayweather Promotions, he was the long-term financial planner for the five-division world champion. It is safe to say that Ellerbe might’ve hinted about Mayweather’s idea for Paul, but Ellerbe says otherwise.
In an interview with ESNEWS, Ellerbe said, “I don’t know; I read about it like you guys. I heard about it, and I spoke to him this morning. And, I was like, what was going on out there.” Further, when asked what will happen between the two, he responded, “I don’t know, I don’t think Jake Paul minds. He is doing his job doing his thing as a boxer, and I wish him nothing but the best of luck.” Ellerbe seems impressed by the YouTuber-turned-boxer and has nothing but respect and best wishes for him.
Ellerbe also opened up about his thoughts on the Jake Paul Vs. Tommy Fury fight, He said, Even though people say negative things, it is good for the sport of boxing. He added, “He is young in his career; he hasn’t been boxing very long, so I wish him nothing but the best.”

Toward the end of the interview, he was asked whether Mayweather and Paul should carry on their business overseas if they decide to fight. To this, he replied that he hadn’t had any conversation about Paul.
Even though there is no news yet, it is safe to think that Mayweather Jr and Jake Paul could fight in the future. Paul’s arch nemesis KSI did not hold back on trolling him after this incident.
