Did Ashton 'H2O' Sylve's hype train just derail, or is this just a minor setback?

A knockout so brutal that they had to get the stretcher out to carry Ashton Sylve off after his loss to Lucas Bahdi at Amalie Arena, Tampa. The MVP’s widely-talked-about prospect fell hard on his face almost as if his soul left his body after opponent Lucas Bahdi connected a scary hook to Sylve’s head.

The two were exchanging blows in the middle of the ring. All of a sudden, Bahdi looked possessed and went for a three-punch combination. Following a cross, he landed his lead hook on Sylve. And by the time the third punch could reach its destination, Sylve was asleep.

Despite a 10-year age gap, Lucas Bahdi put out a breathtaking victory over Ashton ‘H20’ Sylve in “my [Bahdi’s] hardest fight.” Ahead of the fight, Lucas Kettle from BoxingScene, figuratively speaking, wrote that Lucas Bahdi was “ready to try his cool hand against Ashton Sylve.” And boy, he did!

The manner in which Sylve fell on the canvas reminded Jake Pau’s KO over Tyron Woodley. However, Bahdi’s KO over Ashton Sylve was no accident. Speaking to the media during the post-fight interview, Lucas Bahdi revealed that he expected Ashton Sylve to be “super tricky” and “super fast” at the beginning of the fight. But although Sylve was a “good counter-puncher,” Bahdi knew, during the second half, the former’s head would “be in the middle” and he would “catch him.”

And I did exactly what I thought I was going to do,” Lucas Bahdi, who feels “good” to have maintained his unbeaten pro record with this brutal KO over Sylve, added. Soon after the knockout, several entities from the boxing world weighed in on the outcome on social media.
