Under the bright lights of Wembley Stadium, two young lightweights, Mark Chamberlain and Josh Padley, will be given a chance on September 21 to make an impression in front of 96,000 fans. Both fighters will have the good fortune to feature on the Anthony Joshua vs. Daniel Dubois Riyadh Season undercard. The exciting matchup will be for ten rounds at the 135-pound weight limit. “You don’t really get any bigger than fighting at Wembley Stadium. Josh Padley is just another man in front of me that is going to get dealt with on the night,” Chamberlain told BBC Sport ahead of his fight against Padley.

Chamberlain, not too long ago, was juggling two jobs — boxing, and construction work to support his family. But his fortunes changed as he began to make a strong impression in the boxing world under Frank Warren‘s watchful eye. The 25-year-old boxer, on special request from His Excellency Turki Alalshikh, featured on the monumental Tyson Fury Oleksandr Usyk undercard in May, where he stopped his opponent in the very first round. Now, considered the best lightweight in the UK, according to Boxrec, and tenth overall in the world, Mark feels that he has “earned” his spot at the “table” alongside elite names in boxing like Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois. However, before he fulfills his dream of becoming a world champion, he needs to dispatch his undefeated compatriot Josh Padley. So without further ado, let’s break down the fight statistics of Mark Chamberlain and Josh Padley in detail to determine who would come out on top on Saturday.

Mark Chamberlain is undefeated, carrying a record of 16-0, and hasn’t faced any world-championship-level fighters yet. However, the Portsmouth native’s recent run of form has been quite impressive, coming into his upcoming bout on the back of five straight knockout wins. Interestingly, Chamberlain has featured on the undercard of two blockbuster events put together by Riyadh Season— Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk, and Anthony Joshua vs Francis Ngannou all because of his fan-friendly style. In both events, Mark Chamberlain impressed the boxing community, defeating his opponents Joshua Oluwaseun Wahab and Gavin Gwynne via early knockouts. Chamberlain hasn’t won a world title yet but has racked up some European and international titles in his professional career.

On the other hand, Josh Padley is also undefeated, with a boxing record of 14-0. He hasn’t been a part of big-ticket mega-events as of yet and hasn’t fought anyone of world-class reputation. The upcoming Joshua-Dubois event will be the first big event of his career. Josh has fought all of his boxing matches in the UK, barring one against Lydon Chircop who he fought in Malta.’ Paddy’ is coming into the showdown against Chamberlain on the back of a TKO win against Conor Lee Doherty. Just like Mark Chamberlain, the Doncaster native has won a couple of regional and international titles.

The boxing records of both fighters don’t have much between them to declare a clear winner. Maybe, the physical attributes of both pugilists might give us a better picture.
