Floyd Mayweather‘s former opponent Marcos Maidana, was asked about his predictions between Canelo Alvarez and Jaime Munguia. Well, he kept it quite straight and chose Alvarez for the victory. In fact, he even predicted that he’d win by decision or a knockout. Even though the interview with FightHype was in Spanish, in translation, Maidana stated, “Canelo by knockout.”
In the past, even Alvarez had praised Marcos Maidana for his famed bout against Floyd Mayweather, where he mentioned how Maidana was able to dominate ‘Money’ in the opening rounds. Even though, Mayweather was able to figure him out and win the fight in the end. Still, Alvarez believes Maidana did a great job. As it turns out, the camaraderie between the Mexican and Argentine still persists.
Besides the Canelo-Munguia fight, Maidana was also asked about his opinions on the potential contest between ‘Cinnamon’ and ‘The Mexican Monster’. Maidana tried to dodge that question.

Canelo Alvarez and David Benavidez, a potential clash for the ages, are on separate trajectories, leaving fight night enthusiasts feeling shortchanged. Benavidez, the mandatory challenger for Canelo’s title for a staggering three years, recently spoke on the Fresh and Fit Podcast, pulling no punches. “I just want to give the best fights to the fans,” he declared, lamenting the fight’s prolonged stall.
David Benavidez then upped the ante, accusing Canelo of demanding an exorbitant purse – “150, 200 million” – as a stalling tactic. However, with both fighters seemingly on different paths, the dream matchup fades further into the distance. So much so that even Marcos Maidana refrained from talking too much about that fight. When asked on FightHype, he said, “Honestly, I don’t know. I would rather not comment on it because I don’t know.”
