Conor Benn has been in deep waters since September of last year. In his VADA drug test, the boxer tested positive for Clomifene. This discovery led to the boxer suffering impairment to his reputation as a fair competitor. Benn denied any allegations against him consuming or injecting any banned substances. Vehemently, he made it clear that he would not compete in the sport before his name is cleared, to the extent that the former welterweight champion asserted his desire to go on a legal battle with the British Boxing Board of Control.

However, in a recent turn of events, the boxer has apologized for taking such a hostile route to the controversy. He admitted that he was bitter and angry towards the authorities and the boxing world. Meanwhile, the boxing world does not seem to welcome the boxer’s acknowledgment of his mistakes and his apology.

How did the boxing world react to Conor Benn’s apology?

In an interview, Benn revealed that in retrospect, he regrets his behavior towards the authorities and the boxing world. Reflecting on the same sentiments, he stated, “I was a bit bitter towards the boxing community, I was angry. I’m an emotional guy. The way I dealt with it wasn’t right. I apologise to the public.” 

The apology was directed towards the public and specifically the boxing world. Meanwhile, fans shared their thoughts and opinions on Benn’s apology. One fan named Henry Proudlock can empathize with the boxer. He stated, “I remember when my wife was pregnant, she became very emotional and hormonal.”

On the contrary, one fan considers it to be a ‘PR tactic’. They stated, “Hearns referred him to AJs PR team. Time for plan B.”

Along similar lines, one fan named Dale Townsley expressed that this is just another move to be forgiven and the apology is not genuine. He stated, “‘Please forgive me so it can all be swept under the rug properly’. Had 0 big fights but saying he doesn’t wanna fight Kelly etc. and wants a world title fight soon. Man’s a clown.”

Meanwhile, one fan mentioned that Conor is not apologizing for consuming the banned substance. He said, “But he hasn’t apologised for or came up for a reason for taking PED’s.? Why doesn’t the ‘journalist’ ask him that.”
