His big attempt at fulfilling the Olympic dream might have dashed, but Manny Pacquiao stays as active as ever. The former world champion shared a few snapshots of him playing pool with one of the greatest practitioners of the game, Efren ‘The Magician’ Reyes. Needless to say, most of the fans found themselves going over the moon. Many took the opportunity to pour their hearts out in the comment box.

It was minimalist expression at its best. All ‘The PacMan’ did was put three ‘8 Ball’ emoticons on the Instagram post. However, the attached snapshots perhaps spoke more than any words could have described. No wonder he received acknowledgement from ‘The Magician’ himself.

Probably following Manny Pacquiao’s cue, Reyes also wrote in a minimal fashion, “Hello Boss.” The first of the pictures shows the former world champion preparing for his ‘break shot’. He pensively focuses on the ‘rack of balls’ at the table center before hitting them with the cue ball. The next photo shows him standing alongside Efren Reyes.

The third photograph once again displays him looking attentively at the now-scattered balls. The fourth photo has him ‘buffing’ the cue. In the fifth picture, Manny Pacquiao appears resting in his corner. The next four photos show him standing in different poses, cue stick in hand, about to take a strike with the cue ball.

Unsurprisingly, finding two legends teaming up to engage in an activity they both love the most—playing a game or sport—left most of the fans amazed. As it usually happens, a few still couldn’t resist taking potshots at the photos.

Manny Pacquiao and Efren Reyes: Two Legends on a Cue

This user considers it Manny Pacquiao versus Efren Reyes, arguably the best pool player in the world: “Manny vs. the best pool player in the world.” But then this user went further ahead. They sought a pool match between old rivals Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. with a million dollars at stake. “Manny vs. Floyd in Pool for a 1 million dollar game,” they said.

According to this user, Pacquiao, after conquering major milestones in boxing, must be looking forward to establishing a legacy on new grounds: “When you finished all the main quest and now just doing side quest.” Then this follower wished six-time world bowling champion Paeng Nepomuceno had joined Pacquiao and Reyes. Then it would have been a get-together of the three greatest sports personalities of all time from the three Bs of sports: boxing, bowling, and billiards. “Paeng is missing in the pic to complete the three Goats of B’s: Boxing, Billiards and Bowling,” the follower said.

Then this user mustered courage to tell ‘The PacMan’ that in Efren Reyes, he faces the best pool player in the world. Hence, he hardly stands a chance to win: “Im sorry, Manny…the best pool player won’t give you a chance! He’s the goat!

It’s always a great sight when the best from varied disciplines congregate and create history. Watching an eight-division boxing champion try his hand at a cue sport in the presence of a player who has won over 100 international titles is an experience that not many would like to miss.

As far as boxing is concerned, rumors of a rematch with Mayweather Jr. gained strength this year. Though it’s still not confirmed, the rest of the details remain largely absent. Otherwise, the Filipino icon, following his American rival’s playbook, started participating in exhibition bouts. Over a year after he retired, he took on Korean DK Yoo for a six-round bout in December 2022. Then this year, he is scheduled to fight Muay Thai legend Buakaw Banchamek on April 20 in Thailand’s capital, Bangkok.

Do you believe that fans would still be enthusiastic about a Pacquiao-Mayweather Jr. rematch? Or is it way past its expiration date?
