Given the recent events of the past few weeks, fans might have found themselves quite confused. But, putting things to rest, the 140-pound division seems to be making some headway at last. Hopefully, it’s a sure-shot this time. Rolando Romero appears to have emerged as the winner. In an apparent race with Ryan Garcia, he has seemingly beaten the Californian to reach the finish line.

The reward: a fight with the famed ‘Pitbull.’ The match-up has apparently received blessings from even far-away corners. Per the available reports, the WBA light welterweight champion would meet Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz on March 30. Fans might remember that even Ryan Garcia called out the Mexican lightweight sometime ago. Soon after stepping away from a Devin Haney fight, he announced a face-off with Rolando Romero. Speculations were rife about whether the step had anything to do with Floyd Mayweather Jr. The boxing legend had even shared an Instagram post a few days ago featuring ‘Rollie’ and ‘KingRy’. The much-anticipated fight, though, seemingly tanked, just like it happened with the Haney match. Now, as it stands, the new equation will see Mayweather Jr., whose promotions handle ‘Rollie’, pitted against a great rival.

‘The Pacman’ was joined by the president and primary matchmaker for his promotions, Sean Gibbons. The latter, after introducing the boxing great, shared how Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz would be facing Rolando Romero in one of the year’s biggest fights.

He said, “So, uh, I’m here in, uh, General Santos City, the home of the eight-time world champion Manny ‘Pacman’ Pacquiao, uh, president CEO everything for Manny Pacquiao promotions right here his fighter Isaac Pitbull Cruz fighting the biggest fight of 2024 so far against Rollie Romero and uh just wants to give shout.

A proud Manny Pacquiao had nothing but the best wishes for his charge. “Good luck to your fight and do your best and hard work; focus on the fight, and you can do it,” said the former eight-division world champion.

So according to ESPN‘s Mike Coppinger, on March 30, Aussie Tim Tszyu would be reportedly in a 155-pound catchweight battle with former champion Keith Thurman. The latter, incidentally, suffered his first career defeat at the hands of Manny Pacquiao four years ago. It’s surely going to be an exciting day for the fans, as they will see a stream of firework performances.

Among those is the bout between ‘Rollie’ Romero and Isaac Cruz. Then there’s also a fight between WBA middleweight champion Erislandy Lara, who will defend his title from Michael Zarafa. Per the reports available, Cruz is climbing a division to go after Romero’s WBA light welterweight belt.
