Manny Pacquiao may have two very hard jobs to balance ahead of him. While he is one of the greatest boxers of all time who isn’t looking to retire soon, he is also an aspiring Presidential candidate in the Philippines. He is already serving as a senator and just preparing to run for President right now. The elections are in 2022.

That means Pacquiao may want to put a bow on his boxing career in 2021, which is exactly what he is planning on doing. Pacquiao intends to fight twice in 2021, starting in April after finishing his senator duties in the first quarter of the year.

“We still have sessions in March so there’s no way I am going to fight during that time. I think I can do two [fights] next year.”

Manny Pacquiao: Can he return like his old self?

Manny Pacquiao has been past his prime for a while. However, even that makes him one hell of a fighter. As a result, a fight with Spence Jr. isn’t implausible. While ESP will definitely be the favorite heading into it, that fight would be massive just because of Pacquiao’s participation.

Two fights in a year where he also has to campaign for President is interesting. Considering the demi-god reverence that Pacquiao has in his home country for his exploits in boxing, fighting may be a very effective campaign strategy. Outside of that, we also know the passion that Pacquiao has for the sport. If he feels like he can compete at the highest level, crowds will happily watch him.
