WBC Interim lightweight champion, Ryan Garcia, can see his dream come true, as a fight with Manny Pacquiao is already in talks. If everything falls in place, ‘KingRy’ and ‘Pac-Man’ can lock horns before Garcia turns towards Gervonta Davis.
Before his fight against Luke Campbell for the Interim strap, Garcia vowed to fight ‘Tank’ next. However, he also desired to fight Manny Pacquiao somewhere down the line, and hailed the octuple champion as a legend.
While Gervonta Davis had already accepted Garcia’s offer, the fight can take some more time to happen. According to ESPN Ringside, Athletic has reported a fight between Garcia and Pacquiao is in the preliminary discussion stage. Although it’s not a done deal yet, there is a ray of hope for the same.

Akin to Garcia vs Davis, Pacquiao was also rumored to fight UFC star Conor McGregor in a boxing clash. But, following McGregor’s loss against Poirier, he will want to focus on his UFC career. Hence, the Filipino senator can return to the ring against Ryan Garcia. Speaking with FightHype.com, Garcia has also teased the matchup.
“We are working on a fight right now, it should be finalized this week. But that’s just an estimate, I don’t know for sure. It’s gonna be a huge fight. It’s gonna be a fight that nobody’s gonna expect. So, it’s amazing,” said the WBC Interim lightweight champion.
Fans will be excited at the prospect of hearing the confirmation of this bout. But, there are certain aspects that need to be looked at before posing a young Ryan Garcia against a veteran in Manny Pacquiao.
Ryan Garcia vs Manny Pacquiao- A look at their career
Pac-Man is the only octuple world champion in boxing and is still the WBA welterweight champion. He has a pro-record of 62 wins, 7 losses, and 2 draws. At this stage of his Hall of Fame-worthy career, ‘Pac-Man’ can opt to fight anyone. No defeat will put a dent in his unparalleled legacy.
Meanwhile, Ryan Garcia is the unbeaten champion and cannot afford to lose his clean record before fighting his lightweight contemporaries. A win over Pacquiao will be worth cherishing, but a loss can hamper his dominance, especially when the 135 lbs unit is full of undefeated world champions.
