In the exhilarating world of boxing, a perennial debate has raged on for decades: who deserves the title of the greatest boxer of all time? This contentious topic has split fans, pundits, and historians alike, each with their own champion and reasoning. From the ruthless power punches of Mike Tyson to the graceful finesse of Muhammad Ali, the contenders are as diverse. The debate seems to be unending as there is no perfect criteria to judge a fighter’s greatness. Is it the sheer number of victories, the level of competition faced, or the impact on the sport and society? Moreover, there have been several great fighters that have blessed the ring, since time immemorial.
From the charismatic Ali and thunderous Tyson to the elegant Sugar Ray Robinson, there is no lack of contenders with their distinctive style. In the recent era, the likes of Floyd Mayweather Jr. have risen who used his strategic mastery to change the landscape of the sport. Recently, a post from a fan page of Mayweather asked the question– “Is this achievement itself enough for Floyd Mayweather to be called the GOAT?”
The post mentioned Mayweather winning 15 world championships in 5 different weight classes. However, this post didn’t sit well with a lot of boxing enthusiasts. Moreover, the post started a huge debate between those who consider Mayweather the best and those who think Manny Pacquiao‘s the real GOAT.

Facebook post ignites intense debate between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao fans
Fans are fervent in their debate. Benson Patricio wrote, “Paquiao is 8 imagine from flyweight to 154 pounds and knocking out almost all of them in their prime.” He further added, “I repeat in their prime who is going to do that given another 50 years to look for someone to break that record.”
However, Darren Reese countered his argument. He stated, “Don’t forget the getting knocked out multiple times in his prime. Pac-Man has fought in more weights so yea he has 8, but Floyd beat more world champions.”
Chino Guevara simply stated “T.B.E.”. Though along with this, he also added a photoshopped picture of Mayweather in the arms of Ricky Hatton.

Meanwhile, Reginald Powell interjected noting it was Hatton who first called Mayweather out. Furthermore, he added, “Floyd gave him his 1st loss I bet u didn’t say anything about manny fighting him lol.”
Another fan, Saumy Kapri however, sidesteps the Mayweather-Pacquiao discourse to champion George Foreman. He wrote, “Bruh George Foreman is the true GOAT, Mf retired and came back and became the world champion at the age of f*****g 45!!! That dude was the true beast man. Not to mention the sheer destructive power he had, imagine punching someone so hard their feet leaves the ground… Mad AF.” It is to be noted that Foreman still holds impressive power at such an old age. In his words, “Power doesn’t age.”
