On 14th August, John Casimero and Guillermo Rigondeaux entered a thrilling 12-round bantamweight showdown with each other. The duo locked horns for Casimero’s WBO bantamweight strap and they went all out against each other for the full 36 minutes. However, in the end, it was Casimero who won the match and defended his title. He also fetched a reaction from his fellow compatriot, Manny Pacquiao, who seemed impressed with his performance.
Pacquiao revealed some words of encouragement for Casimero, even comparing this fight to his bout with Floyd Mayweather.

“I’m glad that he retained his belt, but the thing is his opponent didn’t want to fight him. It was like Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather,” he said per Michael Benson.

Mayweather and ‘Pacman’s fight is registered in the history books as the ‘richest‘ fight in boxing history. Apart from the money, this contest was important to settle the debate regarding the greatest boxer of the modern era. Accordingly, both these highly skilled technicians put their best skill sets on the table against each other.
As ‘Pretty Boy’ walked in undefeated, he was the favorite. He also dictated the pace of the fight in the initial rounds. However, the stout Pacquiao caught him in the later rounds and began his true assault. Despite this, Mayweather didn’t seem troubled. Hence, he claimed his forty-eighth win and left the Filipino Senator disheartened.

That said, in his above statement, the latter took a dig at his former rival in his own eccentric way.

Will the fans get to see Floyd Mayweather vs Manny Pacquiao 2?
While Mayweather hung up his gloves from the professional mix in 2017, Pacquiao, who is still competing, has a fight aligned for this weekend. However, this might be ‘Pacman’s last fight of his prolonged career.

Considering that, the possibilities of Mayweather vs Pacquiao 2 seem extremely slim, as ‘Pretty Boy’ himself isn’t interested in coming to the professional side again.
