Boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr has done a lot for his community outside the ring. The former five-division champion has been an advocate for social justice and does everything in his power to reduce social inequity in his society. Therefore it was not surprising when his assistant was also stunned after witnessing something that would leave anyone shocked.

A recent report revealed that a man from Florida had been released after spending over 34 years in prison. However, the man was wrongfully convicted for a crime he did not commit but had to still serve time in prison. The man was set to serve 400 years which was cut short after new evidence proving his innocence came out and a judge ruled in his favor.

‘Money’s’ assistant shared the news about this on her Instagram story. Moreover, she could not believe a man spent 34 years in jail for a crime he did not commit. “Wow 34 years” she wrote. The news was broken by activist Shaun King who was equally disgruntled at this horrific news.

Moreover, this is not the first time a wrongfully convicted man has been released from prison. A few months ago undisputed Feamle middleweight champion Claressa Shields posted about a man who was rewarded 1.3 million after being wrongfully jailed.

Meanwhile, despite King being furious about the conviction he was also happy that an innocent man was finally released.

According to NBC news, Sidney Holmes, 57, spent more than 34 years behind bars for a carjacking in 1998. However, in 2020 he contacted the Broward State Attorney’s Office Conviction Review Unit. He then conveyed that he was innocent which led to an investigation in his case.

The Prosecutors now firmly believe that Holmes did not commit the crime. They cited a flawed focus on his vehicle, a witness identification process rife with bias, and a solid alibi which was enough to release him from prison. Following his release, Holmes went on to hug his mother in an emotional moment. Although it was hard to see Holmes being wrongfully sent to prison, the silver lining in this is that he has now been released after going through an ordeal that changed his life forever.
