A couple of months ago, Adrien Broner suggested a $200 million exhibition fight against on-and-off friend and mentor Floyd Mayweather Jr. Somehow, nothing came about. While the former fought Bill Hutchinson in June, the latter continued with the jet-setting exhibition bouts. But a recent clip, where the undefeated former champion joins him, is sure to cause a commotion among fans. So, are they finally joining forces for good?
The footage begins with ‘About Billions’ saying, “And now listen, Big Bro just told me, this time we’re working, so I guess Floyd catching his hands these days…” Mayweather Jr. adds, “I mean, I don’t mind working with nobody; [I’m] definitely going to work with you, definitely right now…” Broner finally concludes that they are going to make it work. But the following comments show that the developments didn’t please quite a few.

Adrien Broner: an eleventh-hour move? fans ask
The following user wonders to what end an exhibition between Mayweather Jr. and Broner would serve. He highlighted that the former won twice against the Argentine Marcos Maidana during their 2014 fights. But then it was Maidana who, a year before, handed over one of the most embarrassing defeats to Broner: “Floyd beat Maidana, and Maidana almost killed you in the ring lol…what kind [of] sense would this make?”
This fan exhorted Adrien Broner to challenge fighters like Teofimo Lopez and Regis Prograis. He should refrain from attempting to get financial assistance. He should earn his living by becoming a champion in his weight division and quit pleading with Mayweather Jr. for money. The fan said, “Begging for a payday. Stop trying to get paid off of Floyd, go fight Regis Prograis or Teofimo Lopez, get a belt [in] your own weight class, and make your own money. Stop begging Floyd for a payday.”

This user suggested that if Broner is looking forward to big money, he should fight Jake Paul: “Go fight Jake Paul, and you’ll get that Big Fat Check.”
The next user urged ‘About Billions’ to avoid ruining his little rapport with Floyd Mayweather Jr. Instead, he could opt for a bout with either of the Paul brothers for a hefty check: “N***a fight a Paul brother; [you] can get a quick 15 and not try to ruin the last bit of friendship [you] and Floyd got.”
This fan asked if Broner could stop boxing. For the sake of the sport, he should refrain from further interference, “Washed. Can you just quit boxing already? Please. If you really have a love for the sport, you’d leave it alone.”

Finally, while he appreciated the two boxers getting together, the following user tried to make Adrien Broner understand that he shouldn’t challenge the leader: “Love seeing y’all together like this, but @adrienbroner, you got to remember #48lawsofpower: never go against the master.”
After an absence of over two years, Adrien Broner returned in June for the Hutchinson fight. The journey has been tumultuous for the former champion. Before the last break, he was out for two years after losing to Manny Pacquiao in 2019. The boxer dealt with several personal challenges between the changes in promotions.
