Tyson Fury came up short in avenging his only loss to Oleksandr Usyk in their rematch recently. Following his gritty battle with the Ukrainian, rumor wagon ran wild with a potential bout against fellow English star Anthony Joshua. However, the former heavyweight champion left fans scratching their heads with news of retirement from the sport. But is it really the case? Well, former UFC fighter Brendan Schaub believes that it may not necessarily be true.

If boxing fans can remember, ‘The Gypsy King’ had previously announced his retirement four times in the past before his recent one. But Schaub, who has nothing but respect for the Manchester native, believes that he’s just trying to use this retirement scheme as leverage to negotiate a better deal for his rumored fight against Anthony Joshua.

“I love him. I absolutely adore Tyson… but also it might be a negotiation tactic to fight Joshua,” Brendan Schuab stated on his YouTube channel“I think it’s a calculated move to get more money from Anthony Joshua or whoever’s putting that fight on.” While he’s certain that a fight against Joshua is on the cards, he still doesn’t see any problem with Fury announcing his retirement because the 36-year-old has done everything he set out to do as a boxer. “He’ll fight Anthony Joshua. I love him, though, and I like it when guys retire, especially on top. Do your thing. He’s made more money than God,” Schaub added.

While Brendan Schaub seems to have a theory that many fans are leaning towards when it comes to Fury’s retirement, boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has given his verdict on the Englishman’s recent announcement. And he thinks that it’s a bit “disappointing.”

What does Eddie Hearn have to say about Tyson Fury’s retirement?

Well, Eddie Hearn simply believes that if a boxer loses his knack for competition, retirement is the best option for them. However, he did mention that a fight pitting Fury against Anthony Joshua would have had the eyes of the whole boxing world glued to their TV screens, but the promoter understands that Fury has a career that may not be replicated, given that he’s a two-time heavyweight champion.

“If you haven’t got the heart for it anymore, and you don’t want to compete anymore, I think retirement is the best option. It’s disappointing, obviously, for British fight fans because we’ve got a chance to make the biggest fight in boxing. But if that is the last we see of him, he’s had a great career,” Eddie Hearn stated on Matchroom Boxing’s YouTube channel. “It’s always best to come into retirement to make sure someone pays you to come out of retirement. But if that’s his lot, much respect to him, and wish him all the best.”
