Claressa Shields seems to be chuffed by the praise received from Errol Spence Jr. The American superstar shared a video on Instagram to express gratitude towards her compatriot.

Errol Spence Jr. named the undefeated female superstar as the fifth-best pound-for-pound fighter right now, according to him. He will face Danny Garcia on December 5 and in anticipation of that, was speaking to PBC ON FOX when he gave his list.

In the video, Spence says, “Number five, I put Claressa Shields. You know, great fighter, won titles in multiple divisions, put on shut out performances and she’s just an excellent fighter. And if she could, she could fight men and beat them.”

The 25-year-old American fighter appreciated the gesture. She said, on her Instagram, it takes a real individual to look past the gender barriers and respect the ability for what it is. And she thanked the unified Welterweight champion for the shout out.

Is Claressa Shields really a pound-for-pound fighter?

The concept of pound-for-pound is a little complex for fans to understand completely. However, given Shields’ ability, speed, ring management, and record, she definitely makes a strong claim for featuring on the list.

Generally, all the pound-for-pound lists are restricted to gender. However, if we were to consider both, fans can make a claim for Shields to be in the Top-10 at least.

The American has fought at multiple age groups, won titles at multiple age groups, and has dominated in the same way. She has displayed almost invincible dominance in the women’s division and can continue to do so for a while.

Thus with the way she is going, if not yet, she could be a pound-for-pound great in the next few years.
