Andy Ruiz Jr. became an overnight sensation when he dispatched Anthony Joshua in 2019. It is cited as one of the biggest upsets in boxing till today. However, in the same year, Joshua settled his scores with him by securing a unanimous decision win in the rematch.
The ‘Destroyer’ hasn’t fought since then, but is pretty keen on making a comeback to the squared circle again. The question remains as to who will be an ideal opponent for him this year? Is a trilogy with Joshua feasible, or Ruiz will have to take on any other name from the roster?

The ‘Destroyer’s pretty active on his social media nowadays. He is keeping his fans in sync with his activities.
Ruiz has shed a significant amount of weight to kick-off his 2021 season with a bang. He is going through vigorous workout sessions, including a lot of boxing and functional training.
Ruiz is extremely desirous of his trilogy against Joshua. The Mexican boxer wants to square off his scores with the Brit. Unfortunately, this trilogy just doesn’t seem to be on the cards until mid-2021, as ‘AJ’ will enter the ring with Tyson Fury to unify the heavyweight belts.
Before him, Ruiz will have several other options available to fight. Deontay Wilder, Alexander Povetkin, Luis Ortiz can be a few opponents for him to take on. Principally, a fight with ‘Bronze Bomber’ would help him slide over the top for a title shot.

As of now, Andy Ruiz Jr. sits at 4th in the heavyweight roster; Wilder holds the number 3 rank. Both of them are hungry to get their hands on the heavyweight gold by discarding either Anthony Joshua or Tyson Fury. But there can only be one between them to ascend to the pinnacle of the division.
