Vasyl Lomachenko is a fighter, both inside as well outside the ring. While his exploits in boxing are pretty well known, unbeknownst to many, as per ESPN, he managed his way through countries to reach his homeland Ukraine on time to join a territorial defense battalion. In an otherwise normal situation, plans were afoot for a bout against the WBA, WBO, IBF, and The Ring Lightweight champion George Kambosos Jr. after the loss of titles against Teofimo Lopez. By the last quarter of 2022, he returned from national duty and fought Jamaine Ortiz on October 29 at New York’s Hulu Theater. “The Matrix” won via unanimous decision.
On the other hand, despite the absence of a single defeat, a relatively unknown Devin Haney, till then WBC Lightweight champion, made a big move last year. Starting June 5 and later on October 16, he fought George Kambosos Jr. In both instances, the Australian failed to muster robust answers to the American’s questions. As a result, “The Dream” became the undisputed champion and a formidable name facing any future challenger.

The October win paved the way for a monumental clash between Lomachenko and Haney. However, unlike many big-name fights, this one has a good chance of passing, given that Bob Arum’s Top Rank promotes both boxers.
As he prepares for what could be the most important fight of his career, ES News caught up with the thirty-five-year-old southpaw. So the reporter started by asking for information on the fight with Devin Haney. Lomachenko responded promptly that he was ready to face the American. However, even he is unaware of the precise details. It seems that he is treating it as a second chance to reclaim the lost name and glory.
The reporter then asked, “One thing you always say it’s about legacy. You make money no matter who you fight; you can fight me, you can fight Saeed, you make money. But it’s about legacy. Tell me about it. Why is this fight so important to you of all the belts?“

Then the Ukrainian explained how it is vital for a person to make goals in life. In its absence, life will be without any purpose. Therefore, it is essential to have a dream. More so, to turn it into reality, one needs to pursue it with a single-minded focus. “Because you know….. every time you need to put a goal in your life and take your goal. If you don’t do this, life is not interesting; life is not serious. That’s why you need to put a big goal and you need to be very focused on your dream. That’s why it’s very important for me,” he said.
The two-time Olympic gold medallist also shared his opinions on the upcoming fights between Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia and the one between David Benavidez and Caleb Plant.
