Just the other day, George Kambosos Jr.‘s had the word happiness written all over his face. For he was in the grand company of Alex Pereira. The ‘Furious’ and the ‘Poatan’s photo-ops drew lavish attention from fans. But now the former world champion’s heart is filled with deep sorrow. Today, with a heavy heart, the Sydney-born boxer had to post a condolence message on Dazelle‘s passing. Just a few months ago, Kambosos Jr. met a youngster. It was a visit meant to motivate and inspire her. However, as it turned out, it was the champion boxer who came out inspired.
According to available reports, Dazelle, who turned 17 this March, had beaten cancer. Her battle with the deadly ailment commenced when she was barely 13 years old. But sadly, her situation only worsened. The series of chemotherapy sessions and bone marrow surgery resulted in her needing a ‘double lung transplant’.
“RIP beautiful Dazelle, my deepest condolences to her family; heaven gained a beautiful angel.,” wrote George Kambosos Jr. Then, addressing the departed soul, he said that she would be remembered forever. She had the remarkable ability to inspire almost everyone who met her. Clearly unhappy over the cruel twists life can sometimes take, he prayed for her parents, who were by her side, when she finally left the world.

Kambosos Jr.’s tweet had a short clip that featured an earlier message from Dazelle. She had thanked the ‘Furious’ for his visit and then wished him the best for the forthcoming fight. Dazelle said, “Hi George, I just wanna say thank you so much for inspiring this Friday, and I just also wanna say I wish you all the best and good luck with the fight that’s coming. God bless and love to you all.”
It was on January 15 that George Kambosos Jr. first shared the details of his meeting with Dazelle. He said, “Met beautiful little Dazelle today at the Children’s Hospital. She beat cancer but now needs a double lung transplant due to side affects from bone marrow transplant.”
He revealed how the youngster’s father got in touch with him and checked to see if he could meet her. A chat with a boxing star would have motivated her. But in the end, it was her courageous battle at such a tender age that deeply inspired him.

George Kambosos Jr., Facing New Realities
Last month, on May 12, George Kambosos Jr. suffered his third professional loss. In a title fight that involved the vacant IBF belt as well as his own IBO championship, Vasyl Lomachenko finally stopped the ‘Furious’ with a lethal body shot. The defeat follows last year’s controversial win over Maxi Hughes. So how are things stacked for the Australian boxing star?
Not so good, actually. With the third setback, questions must have arisen about his ability to draw crowds. Therefore, he will have to ensure a few wins before switching back to a bigger payday. One of the names that has been seemingly making an appearance for a match-up is that of fellow Aussie Liam Wilson. The lightweight division is currently teeming with insane talent. Hence, George Kambosos Jr. will have to make his move on the double, or else he might miss the train.
