His Excellency Turki Alalshikh has a bottomless pit of cash, and he isn’t afraid to use it to make the biggest boxing events! The result: Liam Gallagher will perform in the upcoming Anthony Joshua vs. Daniel Dubois IBF heavyweight title fight at Wembley Stadium, Wembley, on 21st September. However, this isn’t the only time His Excellency has pulled such a stunt.
Just the other day, it was announced that Eminem will be a special guest performer in Terence Crawford‘s upcoming debut at the super welterweight division against Israil Madrimov at BMO Stadium, Los Angeles on August 3rd. While these efforts are, of course, made to raise the entertainment value in the events, fans didn’t seem to like the idea as much.

The Saudis entered the boxing domain back in 2018, and have since pioneered a wave of mega events featuring some of the biggest names in the music industry. Take the Oleksandr Usyk vs. Tyson Fury four belt undisputed clash for example—popular American rapper JID performed before the main event. That’s not all!

Skrillex, Lil Baby, Becky G and Flowdan featured in the Anthony Joshua vs. Francis Ngannou opening ceremony last March. However, those mega events, of course, weren’t enough. So, His Excellency Turki Alalshikh wrote on X today, “Singer Liam Gallagher will perform three songs at the Riyadh Season Card featuring Anthony Joshua vs Daniel Dubois on September 21 at Wembley Stadium”.
However, boxing fans have proven way too impatient to sit through this performance, as they condemned the move in the comment section of the tweet.
Turki Alalshikh asked to read the room after special performance announcement
There’s long been a debate about performances by artists in a boxing match. You don’t see UFC pulling this stuff, so fans explained why such things are unnecessary. One user respectfully told the Saudi royal that events don’t need to last that long, just the fights are sufficient for entertainment. In fact, some may say these performances put people off, as they aren’t getting what they paid for and have to wait on top of that.
Respects but not every single card needs to be a 8+ hour drawn out marathon. Just get to the fights, fans like fluid momentum and come for fights.

Meanwhile, this user felt the former Oasis front man Gallagher didn’t match the theme of the heavyweight night. Instead, came up with his own suggestion. However, the thing in such cases is—some people would like one artist while others would like someone else.
You’re not reading the room bro…big up Liam, however this is a world heavyweight title clash between two black British fighters, and culture as you know is important‼️
You could have the biggest Uk rappers perform together and that will be more on brand than this.

Another user has a query, asking how many songs Gallagher will perform. It’s right there in the tweet mate—three songs! Hopefully, all of them will be classics from the English rock band’s discography.
Will this be multiple songs or just 1 ?

The next user decided to be extremely blunt with their opinion, suggesting no such performances are needed and just the fights are enough. While some people may agree, others like a more super bowl-isk atmosphere.
Dont need this bellend performing, the fights are more than enough 🥊

One user urged HE Turki Alalshikh to bring Noel Gallagher and Liam Gallagher together, like he did for Eddie Hearn and Frank Warren. However, even when Liam and Noel were working together, they were at each other’s throats. In 2009, Noel had enough and quit, and has never looked back since.
@Turki_alalshikh you got Eddie and Frank together, now you know what to do, imagine the scenes, you’d be a God amongst men! @liamgallagher @NoelGallagher
