Eddie Hearn gives Tyson Fury food for thought

Just like Crawford vs Spence, Fury’s long-awaited matchup with Oleksandr Usyk has been lingering over off-court negotiations. But unlike one has ever seen, for the first time, a current boxing world champion would face an MMA fighter. The prospect of Fury taking on Francis Ngannou has not gone down well with many boxers and boxing fans around the world. Not only did Fury fail to make the Usyk fight come to fruition, but he is also fighting a combatant who has never competed in the boxing ring before.

Meanwhile, one of the most popular promoters in the sport, Eddie Hearn, shared his two cents on Fury’s next fight. Contrary to the public perception, Hearn does not mind Fury facing Nagnnou but not at the cost of an undisputed fight against Usyk.

In an interview with IFL TV Hearn stated, “I’ll give this balanced opinion as I understand it. Great event, great heavyweight championship, MMA champion but he had a chance to fight Oleksandr Usyk  for double the money and he chose not to.”

In addition, he drew a parallel between Spence Vs Crawford and put forward a case that fighting the best would always lead to a fruitful outcome. Not just for the boxer but also for the sport and the fans.

Reflecting on the same, he added, “I just want to get back to Spence Crawford fight, come on always get your value, always get your worth, and let’s make this sport great by taking chances by being in big fights.”
