Fat Joe and the late Big Pun were at a nightclub in New York in the year 1995. They were at the entrance when Big Pun was asked by bouncers to take off his boots. It was reported that they wanted to check under his shoes. However, Big Pun refused to comply.
This, in turn, angered the bouncers. Talking about the incident, Fat Joe said, “So they start arguing. ‘F you! Ya mother!’ This, that, going back and forth. Then it starts turning into two, three, four, five, six and they all just start saying ‘let’s beat up Big Pun and Fat Joe, I don’t care.'”
Fat Joe further explained how Tyson became their guardian angel at that time. He said, “So, out of nowhere, we hear this voice. ‘Yo Pun, Yo Joe, let’s F these dudes up. I got your back.’ We turn around and it’s Iron Mike Tyson. 2:30 in the morning, fresh out of jail with the kufi on. So now he starts and everyone is looking like ‘Oh my god, this is Iron Mike!'”
In fact, the former champ’s mere presence was enough to intimidate the bouncers. Moreover, Tyson even went on to chase the bouncers.
