WBC lightweight champion Devin Haney successfully defended his belt against Jorge Linares. ‘The Dream’ continued his unbeaten run in the sport with another professional performance. And after his title defense, Haney sent a clear message to Teofimo Lopez.
Lopez holds three other belts in the lightweight division, Furthermore, he also holds the WBC franchise belt. Therefore, the one belt he does not have is Haney’s. And the pair have engaged in several verbal battles over the past few months.

After beating Linares, Haney spoke to Chris Mannix at the post-fight interview and addressed the possibility of facing ‘The Takeover’ next. He said, “Of course, I want to make the biggest fights happen. And if Teofimo Lopez is next, let’s do it.”

‘The Dream’ then spoke about their comments in the build-up to the fight and said, “Of course not, I stayed focused on Jorge Linares, I knew that he was a tough competitor, I focused on my game plan, and I went in there and I got the job done. If Teofimo wants to get in there next, let’s do it for all the belts. The real undisputed.”

Can Devin Haney face Teofimo Lopez next?
The comments from the unbeaten champion showed his desire to make the fight. Moreover, it confirmed he is undeterred by all the talk and wants to get it over the line. However, can Haney face Lopez next?

‘The Takeover’ has already called for a bout against Devin Haney. The undefeated American also explained why he wants to face ‘The Dream’ after his bout against George Kambosos Jr. This is a fight that fans would love to see and would be a blockbuster event.

In addition, Lopez fights on June 19, and thus, their timelines could match for a mega-fight at the end of the year. Therefore, it makes sense for Devin Haney to face Teofimo Lopez next. However, things are not so simple with making a fight in boxing.
