However, until February 7, 2023, there was a record that James has been fervently eying, the all-time leading scorer record set by the legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. But, February 7, saw history being rewritten in the most sensational manner as James broke the very record that he unceasingly coveted. Multiple celebrities, along with fans, were awestruck by James’ accomplishment. In fact, boxing legend, Floyd Mayweather, even took to social media to congratulate him.
Los Angeles Lakers faced Oklahoma City Thunder at the Crypto.com arena. Meanwhile, the courtside seats were a testament to the multitude of celebrities in attendance.

And as fans, celebrities, and Abdul-Jabbar himself stood witness. James went down in history books as he scored his 38,388th career point. According to CNN, he went on to thank his fans, saying, “Everybody that’s ever been a part of this run with me for the last 20-plus years. I just want to say I thank you so much because I wouldn’t be me without y’all.”

In an Instagram post titled, ‘From one GOAT to another’, Mayweather posted a picture of himself with James. Moreover, he also mentioned that he was proud of his achievements.

Fans were left confused as Floyd Mayweather congratulated LeBron James
Boxing fans were excited to witness the picture of both the GOATs together. But were also confused by his statement in the caption. In fact, they took to the comments to share their thoughts about the same.
Johnny Dang & Co wasted no time in saying, “GOATS.”
In the same vein, Sal Martinez said, “My 2 favorite ATHLETES OF ALL TIME. 2 GOATS. 2 LEGENDS.”
Meanwhile, a few fans felt that Mayweather was trying to steal James’ thunder. Mason Helms mentioned, “Always gotta include your name bruhhh.”
Julian Walls stated, “Somehow had to make it about himself.”
